Abuse, simply defined here as any action that intentionally harms or injures another person, is a crime against humanity. In whatever form, abuse has negative, long lasting consequences on victims. Among the various forms of abuse include sexual abuse, physical abuse, verbal and emotional abuse. The rate at which these forms of abuse occur daily worldwide is alarming and increasingly becoming an "ill" that the society must pay more attention to.
In most urban and rural places, there is little or no serious attention given to this grace societal ill called 'Abuse'. It is time to join in the global campaign to break the silence on the long term and harmful effects of abuse so as to promote respect for life and uphold human dignity. This is the role and responsibility of all. Every form of abuse must be condemned and if we do not create more awareness to stop this evil, we will continue to have a generation of wounded, destroyed and broken persons.
